During the holiday, when you have free time at home to work out, it’s tough to get up early, and it’s too hot in the afternoon. After finally getting ready to go for a run in the evening, a sudden rain ruins the plan, making it even harder to stay motivated. Fortunately, there are plenty of UP owners on Bilibili sharing various workout methods. Turn on the air conditioner, lay out your yoga mat, and get moving, leaving the excuse of "it’s too hot" behind! However, when you open the videos, there are so many types of workouts—cardio, strength training, etc.—and it’s hard to know where to start. This is when having a solid plan becomes crucial.
Kenko is an open-source app that allows you to create your own workout plans. When you open Kenko, the first thing that catches your eye is its minimalist design and beautiful interface, which looks almost too good for a fitness tracking app. The app comes with a simple training plan example called "Push-Pull-Leg," detailing the specific workouts and target muscle groups for each day from Monday to Friday. You can even adjust the plan for any given day by clicking on the date.
Kenko offers 35 default training exercises, covering a variety of movements for different muscle groups, making it easy to choose exercises when creating your workout plan. Of course, you can also manually add exercises you’re familiar with. Since the app is currently fully in English, the professional terms and names can be intimidating. Based on my experience, I prefer to avoid using technical jargon and describe things in a simple and clear way.
When you want to start your workout plan, just click on the corresponding plan, and you can follow the steps to begin. Kenko allows you to log the number of repetitions, weight, and other details for each exercise, and the display is very intuitive. Plus, you can easily modify your workout plan at any time through your profile.
Even if you’re not a fitness enthusiast and just want to do some light exercise, Kenko is still useful. With such a good-looking app, why not make the most of it? For example, for core workouts, several Bilibili UP owners have released some great follow-along videos. I’ll create a new workout under the "Core" section, give it a name, and put the Bilibili video link in the Reference section. This way, every time I click on the plan, it will take me directly to the corresponding video, allowing me to make the most of Kenko while organizing my favorite follow-along videos from Bilibili.
If you're interested in Kenko, you can download and experience it for free through VIPDown. The developers are actively updating new features, so there’s a lot to look forward to.
