Old School Musical is a pixel-style music game with a strong 8-bit vibe. Not only are the visuals in pixel art, but the music also has a retro electronic feel. The game turns your phone into a handheld device with buttons, paired with vibration feedback, making the experience quite immersive.
Old School Musical also incorporates RPG elements, where each time you hit a note, you help two little chickens defeat enemies and progress through the game.
The game currently features 55 tracks, each with two difficulty levels. Apart from the first chapter, the other tracks need to be unlocked through in-app purchases, and there are also weekly free tracks for players to challenge. Most of the music is of good quality, though some tracks have slightly awkward note rhythms, which can lead to missed presses.
